Oh we could/should! Maybe he had an internship at the place she worked or his parents were like "Well if you want to disappoint us like this please strengthen the connection with the Abasi" or.. I don't know?

When she's in a particularly childish mood she'll ask him for paperclips and pens, before going "Oh no you have a REAL job now hahahaha j/k kill me"
